Two Algerian EU Jeel Connectors are making waves by tackling some of the most pressing issues facing young people today—ethical fashion and the transition from volunteering to entrepreneurship.
Slow Fashion vs Fast Fashion: Rethinking Our Style Choices
In a thought-provoking webinar titled Slow Fashion vs Fast Fashion — Ethics, Impact & The Future of Style, Nasrallah Toumiat, EU Jeel Connector from Algeria, brought together voices from Algeria, France, and Egypt to explore the future of fashion through a more ethical and sustainable lens.
The session examined the environmental and social impact of fast fashion, the principles behind slow fashion, and how conscious consumption can shape a more responsible industry. The discussion also showcased EU-supported initiatives promoting green, circular, and inclusive economies in the region—offering participants practical insights into how fashion can become a force for good.
Youth 4 Change: From Volunteering to Entrepreneurship
Meanwhile, in another impactful initiative, Benamara Abdelmoumene, also an EU Jeel Connector from Algeria, launched the Youth 4 Change Forum under the theme “From Volunteering to Entrepreneurship.” The event provided an interactive space for young people to explore how community engagement and skills development can pave the way to economic participation and entrepreneurship.
Through expert-led panels and engaging discussions, the forum spotlighted EU-backed opportunities and programmes that support youth empowerment, inclusion, and entrepreneurship in Algeria. It was a powerful reminder that with the right tools and guidance, today’s volunteers can become tomorrow’s change-makers.
These initiatives reflect the commitment of the EU Jeel Connect network to foster dialogue, skill-building, and sustainable development across the Southern Neighbourhood—by youth, for youth.
