United Arab Emirates EBRD: record year for 2015 investments of which €2.3 billion in the Mediterranean

The Chair of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Sir Suma Chakrabarti participates as of Wednesday in three-day long discussions at the World Economic Forum which will primarily focus on investment opportunities in areas covered by EBRD and on the Bank’s response to persisting economic challenges.
In a statement, the Chair says he will report on a record year for EBRD investments (€9.4 billion in 2015) and on the bank’s solid portfolio of projects.
EBRD states on its website that by November 2015, it invested about €2.3 billion in more than 80 projects in the SEMED area (southern and eastern Mediterranean countries) in addition to €82 million for technical assistance funded by EBRD donors and shareholders.
According to the same source, the first investments made in Egypt, Jordan, Tunisia and Morocco were authorized in September 2012.
