The 37th European Film Festival (EUFF), the longest-running foreign film festival in Jordan, opened on 13 September under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Rym Ali at the Royal Film Commission. This year’s festival presents 22 films: dramas, comedies, thrillers, documentaries and animation movies from European Union Member States, but also the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Ukraine, and – last but not least – the acclaimed Jordanian feature Inshallah Wallad.

“Cinema has the power to transcend borders and to bring people together. This year’s selection emphasizes empathy and dialogue. Our festival is a testament to the friendship and deep bonds between Jordan and Europe.” said EU Ambassador Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas. The European Film Festival is about movies but it also constitutes a platform for exchange and learning. Filmmakers from Austria, Greece, Sweden, and the UK will engage with audiences in Q&A sessions and lead four workshops for professionals and young talents.

Screenings will run from 13 to 30 September at the Royal Film Commission in Amman and extend to Ajloun, Aqaba, Irbid, Jerash, Wadi Rum, Salt, and Zarqa ensuring access to diverse audiences across the Kingdom. Organised by the European Union Delegation to Jordan, in partnership with European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) Jordan cluster and the Royal Film Commission, the festival celebrates the cultural ties that connect Europe and Jordan through cinema.
