United Arab Emirates SIMMER in Palestine assesses the wildfire response
As part of the SIMMER Project’s stakeholder engagement activities, Palestine Polytechnic University (PPU), Palestinian partner of SIMMER, held a coordination meeting with the Palestinian Civil Defense on the 17th March 2026 to assess the current wildfire response framework in Palestine. The discussion focused on operational procedures during wildfire incidents, the availability of firefighting equipment, and the key challenges faced by response teams, particularly during periods of high temperatures and prolonged dry conditions. Participants also explored how the SIMMER Project can support improved preparedness, enhance coordination among relevant institutions, and facilitate knowledge exchange on wildfire risk management, contributing to more effective and timely response efforts.
