Yemen SmartGreenEcos Brings Tunisia’s Dairy Sector Together
Nearly 20 dairy value-chain stakeholders met in Mahdia to discuss real business challenges and explore how green and digital solutions can support the sector’s transformation. On 7 July 2026, the Vitalait Foundation in Mahdia hosted an information and networking meeting organised by SmartGreenEcos partner University of Carthage, bringing the project closer to businesses and professionals working across Tunisia’s dairy value chain. The meeting was coordinated by Ms Iness Jabri, SmartGreenEcos Project Coordinator in Tunisia, with the participation of technology experts from BIWARE and SIRAT. Nearly 20 stakeholders took part, including farmers, livestock breeders, milk collectors, animal feed producers and other dairy-sector professionals. Participants were welcomed by Mr Ali Klebi, President of the Vitalait Foundation.
The meeting went beyond presenting the SmartGreenEcos project. It created space for an open and practical exchange on the challenges dairy businesses and farms face every day and on the types of solutions that could make a real difference. Participants shared first-hand experiences from across the dairy value chain, helping the SmartGreenEcos team better understand the sector’s priorities and the areas where practical support, technology and capacity building can create the greatest value.
A central principle of SmartGreenEcos is that participating SMEs are not simply recipients of project services. Their knowledge and experience will help shape the tools and support mechanisms being developed. The strong engagement during the Vitalait meeting highlighted the value of this collaborative approach: bringing businesses, sector professionals and technology experts together to exchange knowledge, identify needs and explore practical solutions for a more innovative and sustainable dairy sector.
SmartGreenEcos is building a Mediterranean ecosystem involving around 100 SMEs across Tunisia, Greece, Cyprus and Jordan. In Tunisia, approximately 25 SMEs are expected to benefit from business diagnostics, specialised training, technological and environmental advisory support and opportunities to connect with national and international experts. The meeting at the Vitalait Foundation marks another important step in strengthening SmartGreenEcos engagement with Tunisia’s dairy ecosystem and ensuring that the project develops in close connection with the people and businesses it aims to support.
