United Arab Emirates Community-led and creative climate radio on air to cover COP22

Climate Radio, a temporary FM radio station broadcasting from Marrakesh for the coverage of the 22nd Conference of Parties at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP22) is on air. The initiative is supported by the EU-funded NET-MED Youth project with the aim of ensuring the media coverage of the UN climatic change summit.
During 6 days, from 12 to 18 November, 18 young CSO journalists and reporters from Algeria, Angola, Cameroon, Jordan, Israel, Morocco, Palestine, Rwanda, and Tunisia, will spend 4 hours per day producing written and broadcast content in Arabic, Amazigh, English, French and Spanish.
The radio shows will be broadcast locally on 100.1 FM, streamed online on http://www.climateradio.org/ and shared in Creative Commons (CC-BY-NC) so that community radios around the world can rebroadcast them.
NET-MED Youth aims to improve the access and effective participation of young people in mainstreaming their priorities into legislation and national planning in the Southern Mediterranean Partner countries. Specifically, it aims to build the capacities of youth organisations in ENP South countries and to enhance networking among them in order to reduce the fragmentation of efforts and harness the collective potential of young people in achieving democratic transition towards active citizenship, political participation and social inclusion.
