Tunis International Center for Environmental Technologies (CITET), within the framework of the Gov4GreenMed project, officially launched on March 2, 2026 the work on developing the Municipal Waste Management Plan for the municipality of Nabeul, during a meeting held at the municipal headquarters in the presence of various institutional and technical partners.
During the meeting, the speakers emphasized the importance of inclusive governance, integrating local authorities, economic actors, civil society, and citizens. The different phases of the work were presented, ranging from the initial diagnosis to the development of an action plan adapted to the specificities of the territory.
Among the main decisions made was the need to strengthen data collection, particularly through a field survey aimed at better understanding the practices and expectations of the population.
One of the added values of this process is that it will bring together several key institutions, including the Agence Nationale de Gestion des Déchets (ANGED), representatives of the tourism sector, and professional organizations, who proposed to ensure effective project monitoring. The meeting also highlighted promising local initiatives, such as the recycling ecopoint integrated into the CapVert ecotourism project, which encourages the inclusion of informal waste collectors in the waste recovery chain.
