Following a first edition that took cinema beyond traditional theaters, the Delegation of the European Union in Tunisia and the EU Member States are renewing their partnership with Cinématdour for this second edition. Cinématdour is an initiative whose core values ​​are cultural decentralization and the conviction that cinema should reach all audiences throughout Tunisia. Focused on inclusivity, the festival will continue its journey this year in Zaghouan, from September 3 to 13, before heading to Jendouba, from September 30 to October 11.

In Zaghouan, Cinéma Jet will take over various venues throughout the governorate and offer much more than just a film program: screenings, artistic workshops, meetings, masterclasses, collaborative creations, and immersive experiences will form a journey designed to engage audiences and make everyone not only a spectator but also an active participant in the creative process.

Cinema remains at the heart of Cinéma Jet, but it becomes the starting point for a broader artistic exploration. Tunisian and European films, short and feature-length, meetings with professionals, and artistic projects will allow audiences to discover perspectives and visions from near and far. The European program will notably feature films from Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Belgium, and Switzerland, making the festival a space for dialogue between European and Tunisian cultures and societies.

This openness will be extended through a series of workshops: a theater workshop with Chedli Arfaoui focusing on expression and raising awareness of risky behaviors among young people; Dance with Oumayma Bahri, to transform Zaghouan’s heritage into movement; illustration with Sonia Ben Salem, where children will reinvent film posters and worlds; and photography with Rabii Ben Brahim – The Dreamer, to discover Zaghouan through the eyes of its inhabitants. Young people will also learn to make their own film with a smartphone, from scriptwriting to editing, before presenting their creations to the public.

Among the highlights of this edition is the Tunisian premiere of Les Baronnes by Nabil Ben Yadir, co-written with his mother, Mokhtaria Badaoui. The film tells the story of four women from Molenbeek who decide to take control of their destinies. A story of emancipation, solidarity, and passing on traditions that resonates perfectly with the theme of inclusion championed by this edition. The screening will be preceded by a masterclass with Nabil Ben Yadir, organized with the Tunisian Federation of Amateur Filmmakers (FTCA).

Another major event: The Wave, organized by EU MedBridge in collaboration with the Delegation of the European Union in Tunisia, will take place on September 10 in Zaghouan. Artists, cultural stakeholders, European cultural centers, and projects supported by the European Union, including Maghroumin and Creative Europe, will come together for a program combining artistic creation, meetings, and discussions on the role of culture in dialogue and social cohesion.
