Iqlaa: Morocco’s new accelerator for cultural and creative businesses launches its first call for applications

Africalia, the Hiba Foundation and the French Institute, in partnership with the European Union, have launched the first call for applications for Iqlaa, a new accelerator programme for Moroccan cultural and creative businesses. The first edition will select around 20 companies.

What is Iqlaa?

Iqlaa is designed to help young cultural and creative entrepreneurs aged 18–35, based in Morocco, strengthen their businesses, accelerate growth and scale their activities.

The programme will run through three editions until the end of 2029. The first edition will provide around 20 businesses with tailored support to develop and implement their growth plans.

Eligible sectors include:

  • Animation, video games and multimedia
  • Crafts and creative arts
  • Performing and visual arts
  • Film and audiovisual
  • TV, radio and digital platforms
  • Events and festivals
  • Books and publishing
  • Fashion and design
  • Music
  • Heritage and cultural tourism
  • Architecture and gastronomy
  • Press and media
  • Advertising and marketing

How does the programme work?

Iqlaa is structured around three stages:

  1. Integration – entering and engaging with the programme
  2. Strengthening – consolidating the business model
  3. Momentum – preparing businesses for investment, exports and scaling up

Support includes:

  • Peer-to-peer networking
  • Access to Morocco’s cultural and creative ecosystem
  • Financial support to implement growth projects
