Marking Europe Day, the May edition of 3Q Talks brings together a series of conversations with EU ambassadors, exploring partnerships, shared priorities, and future opportunities with countries across the region. In this context features the discussion with Dr. Cristian Tudor, offering insight into the evolving partnership between the European Union and Qatar. He highlights the depth and diversity of EU–Qatar relations, reflecting on the meaning of Europe Day as both a celebration of shared values and a forward-looking moment.

  • What does the EU–Qatar partnership look like today, and what are its key areas of impact?

The EU–Qatar partnership is stronger and more dynamic than ever, built on trust, shared interests, and a forward-looking vision. It spans key areas such as energy, trade, education, and sustainability, while our political dialogue continues to deepen at both bilateral and regional levels. At the same time, we place strong emphasis on people-to-people connections, through cultural initiatives, youth engagement, and sports diplomacy, which bring our partnership closer to citizens and create a tangible impact in everyday life.

  • What does Europe Day mean in the context of EU–Qatar relations, particularly for young people?

Europe Day is a celebration of peace, unity, and cooperation, values that also guide our partnership with Qatar. It is a moment to reflect on how far we have come, but also to look ahead at what we can build together. For young people, it is a reminder that international partnerships create real opportunities, whether in education, innovation, or cultural exchange, and that they are at the heart of shaping a more connected and cooperative future.

  • What message would you share with young people in Qatar?

Stay curious, stay open, and never underestimate the power of your ideas. The future will belong to those who are willing to learn, to connect across cultures, and to turn challenges into opportunities. The European Union stands as a partner for you, whether through education, exchange, or collaboration, and we encourage you to explore, engage, and be part of shaping the future.
