Yemen Egypt : visit of EU Ambassador and Swedish Ambassador to Fayoum

On the occasion of the Universal Child Rights Day, the Swedish Ambassador Jan Thesleff and the EU Ambassador Ivan Surkos both participated in a special field visit to Fayoum on 21 November, where the ‘Dawwie’ initiative is taking place.
Launched by the National Council for Childhood & Motherhood and other partners and in collaboration with UNICEF, ‘Dawwie’ initiative is part of a nation-wide effort to empower girls. The visit included attending an interactive theatre performance at Shakshouk Village, where they got a chance to listen to the children discuss many relevant topics, including early marriage and girls’ education.
