Through the EU-funded Project “Jordanian Action for the Development of Enterprises” (JADE), the European Union in Jordan has supported a competition targeting different sectors and industries to help young participants create their own start-ups.
The “start-up battle” included over 1000 applicants, out of which 45% women, in five cities, who produced 369 innovative ideas in different sectors such as tourism, social entrepreneurship, plastics, engineering and chemicals.
The winners proposed innovative ways to recycle plastics from trash bins to recycled products, to collect used cooking oil to produce biofuel and to use art therapy to increase creativity, self-awareness and community participation.
