Yemen EU project launches call for proposals to fund initiatives on governance and civil society

A call for proposals has been launched under the EU-funded project WE GOV! with a budget of EUR 200,000 and in order to fund innovative micro projects in the field of governance and capacity building of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in the Southern Neighbourhood region.
Thorough a sub-granting mechanism, this call aims at funding CSOs projects for periods of 8-12 months, either at national or at regional level and will contribute to the following objectives:
· To support CSOs practicing social accountability and good governance principles.
· To establish participation in decision making process and dialogues between CSOs and government institutions.
· To expand civil society space and increase democracy in action through networking, participatory activities linking CSOs and governmental institutions in the four countries targeted by the CfP.
· To reinforce CSOs capacity to contribute to the building of an enabling environment by ensuring their independence, internal governance, transparency and accountability.
· To highlight the regional dimension of the EU policy in the Southern Neighbourhood Region and specifically in the 4 partner countries targeted by WE GOV! project.
The deadline for submitting project proposals is 11 December 2016.
WE GOV! is a three year project co-funded by the European Commission and implemented by GVC and its partners with the aim of strengthening the involvement of CSOs in the reform policy processes and improving their role as watchdog through an integrated programme of capacity building. It also seek to support CSOs to contribute in and influence the creation of a post-2015 development agenda in the four countries where the project is implemented (Jordan, Libya, Palestine, Tunisia) andthat show low scores in terms of governance indicators, and specifically voice and accountability and government effectiveness.
