The European Union is increasingly concerned about the rising tensions across the Blue Line, the ever-growing destruction and the forced displacement of civilians on both sides of the Israeli-Lebanese border.
In line with UN Security Council resolution 1701, the EU calls on all actors to exercise restraint, prevent further tensions and engage in international diplomatic efforts, undertaken notably by France and the United States.
Nobody stands to win from a broader regional conflict. A de-escalation of the situation would significantly contribute to the settlement of the broader conflict in the Middle East.
