A new generation of beekeepers in Jordan will soon have the opportunity to take its first steps into the fascinating world of beekeeping through an innovative training programme that combines expert instruction with cutting-edge mixed reality technology. Delivered within the framework of the PLANBEE project, the Beginners’ Beekeeping Training using a Simulation Tool aims to inspire newcomers to discover the opportunities offered by the growing Bee Economy while developing the knowledge and practical skills needed to enter the sector with confidence.

Unlike traditional introductory courses, the training makes use of an advanced mixed reality simulation tool that recreates a realistic beehive environment. Participants will be able to practise essential beekeeping techniques in a safe, interactive setting before working with live colonies, helping to build confidence while reducing many of the concerns commonly experienced by beginners. With global demand for honey and other bee-derived products steadily increasing, the Bee Economy offers promising opportunities for employment, entrepreneurship and sustainable rural development. Through this initiative, PLANBEE seeks to encourage more young people, women and aspiring entrepreneurs to consider beekeeping as both a rewarding profession and a viable business opportunity.

What participants will learn

During the two-day programme, participants will gain a solid introduction to the fundamentals of modern beekeeping, including:

• The biology and life cycle of honey bees and the organisation of a beehive.
• Introduction to beekeeping equipment and hive management.
• Practical use of the mixed reality simulation tool to experience hive operations in a safe environment.
• Basic hive inspection techniques and routine colony management.
• Bee health, nutrition and sustainable beekeeping practices.
• The importance of bees for biodiversity, agriculture and environmental sustainability.
• The economic potential of the Bee Economy and opportunities for future entrepreneurship. 

Training Format

The programme consists of 16 training hours delivered over two days and is designed for individuals with little or no previous beekeeping experience. Participants who attend at least 75% of the training hours (minimum 12 out of 16 hours) will receive a Certificate of Attendance.

Who can participate?

The training is open to anyone interested in learning about beekeeping and exploring future opportunities in the sector. Places are limited, and participants will be selected based on the available capacity of the programme.
