The SHAREN project continues to progress in Jordan. On 6th May 2026, the Royal Scientific Society (RSS), Jordanian partner of SHAREN, met with Jordan’s Energy & Mineral Resources Commission (EMRC), the governmental regulatory authority responsible for overseeing the country’s energy and mining sectors, to discuss the next steps for implementing the project pilot in Madaba, south of Amman. The pilot installation is planned across different buildings located around the Archaeological Park of Madaba, supporting the development of innovative energy sharing solutions integrated into the local urban environment.
The meeting focused on possible options for connecting the pilot to the electricity network, including the role of battery storage systems in supporting renewable energy use. At this early stage of the energy sharing pilot, stakeholder coordination is essential to validate plans, address technical and regulatory requirements, and ensure alignment with local procedures. The importance of securing the necessary approvals from Jordan Electric Power Company (JEPCO) was also highlighted.
RSS will continue working closely with the relevant authorities and stakeholders to support the successful implementation of SHAREN activities in Jordan.
