On May 31th 2018, a new biofuel production plant was inaugurated in Koura which turns residues of olive groves into biomass briquettes that are an excellent source of heating for households. This new factory was made possible thanks to an EU sustainable development project.
The project has a big impact for the residents and the environment of this area. Indeed, it helps reducing the overall burning activities in the city and potentially the CO2 emissions. Then, it will at least allow five permanent jobs per shift in the Koura region. Finally, the project will train 100 landowners on pruning techniques.
