In 2019, the EED supported 260 new initiatives in the regions where it operates, with a total of 440 ongoing grants during the year. This year’s report provides an overview of the EED’s work during the past year, supporting activists, independent media and human rights defenders in the European neighbourhood and beyond. It features the stories of many of these brave people, and of their individual struggles, their creativity, persistence and moral courage.
