The 3rd meeting of the Directors-General of Civil Protection of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Member States will take place on 11 and 12 of February 2019 at the UfM premises in Barcelona, 9 years after the last meeting took place. The meeting, co-organised by the UfM and the EU, seeks to facilitate thematic discussions focusing on common humanitarian aid and crisis management challenges.
The frequency and intensity of disasters has increased in the last decade, exerting considerable pressure on national authorities. Information sharing and a coordinated/common approach to disaster risk management has proven to be more effective and efficient in this new environment.
