Over the past two months, Media Connectors across the region came together to lead sessions on identity, diplomacy, the environment, misinformation, and professional development — reflecting the network’s commitment to empowering constructive journalism in the South.

In Palestine, Connectors Ronza Halaweh, Mayar Zalloum, and Khalil Qeshta held an online dialogue bringing together voices from the West Bank, Jerusalem, and Gaza to clarify misconceptions about the region’s diverse realities, while in Libya, Nagham Alferjani convened journalists, legal experts, and civil society representatives for Journalists Against Hate, addressing online hate speech, AI-driven deepfakes, and constructive journalism.

Diplomacy and global issues also featured prominently: in Abu Dhabi, Rokaya Angal interviewed EU Ambassador H.E. Lucie Berger on women’s leadership in diplomacy and EU–UAE cooperation, while the Tik Talk team marked World Environment Day with a session on climate change, pollution, and the media’s role in driving sustainability action.

On the skills front, Ahmad Abou Hamdan and Yasmin Seif Eldin delivered Lines of Defence, training participants in fact-checking, verification, and spotting AI-generated misinformation. Rounding out the season, Sara Maabreh and Ronza Halaweh hosted a 60-participant regional session on building a professional LinkedIn presence, guided by expert Khaled Al Ahmad, and introducing attendees to opportunities across Media Connect, EU Jeel Connect, and EU MedBridge.
