The Delegation of the European Union and the Diplomatic Missions of the EU Member States to Libya condemn the use of force on 21 October at the headquarters of the Audit Bureau in Tripoli, which reportedly is aimed at pressuring the institution over disputed leadership appointments.
We call for an end to any armed presence or coercive action affecting the work of the Audit Bureau and for those involved to leave its premises without delay. We urge all concerned to handle disagreements over appointments to sovereign institutions solely through established legal and institutional procedures, in accordance with the relevant Libyan legislation and the principles of the Libyan Political Agreement.
We reaffirm our support for the rule of law and for resilient, independent and accountable sovereign institutions in Libya. We remain committed to a united, stable, secure, and prosperous Libya and to working towards this goal with all relevant institutions and partners.
